One of Younique Designs’ most notable projects, this kitchen received both national and international acclaim winning first place in the NKBA design competition, being featured in an article by Architectural Digest, and was Shortlisted in the International Design and Architecture awards in London, England as well as the Trends International Design Awards.
This Beautiful 4800 square foot home in the Shavano Park area of San Antonio was built in 1984 and featured high ceilings, tons of windows for natural light, and mature oak trees. This house had great bones as they say and was in the perfect location, but it lacked storage and the customization that the new homeowners desired. The homeowners purchased this home with the intent to live in it for many years, but first, they would need to put their signature on it. With 2 grown children and two still in high school, these clients were in need of space to entertain, and they would also need plenty of storage in the kitchen for their large family.
Tower cabinets were designed to flank the luxury gas range cooktop with one created to house small appliances with roll-out shelves that allow for them to be used in place and rolled back without them ever having to leave the cabinet. Outlets were placed inside the cabinet with a jamb switch on the cabinet door that turns off the power to the outlet when not in use. The other tower cabinet houses a Chef’s pantry with storage on the inside of the doors and swing-out shelves. The tower doors feature a three-dimensional design with brass rivet inlays and brass hardware. In a luxury kitchen, it’s this level of detail that elevates the design and sets it apart from the rest.
An exploration of color, form, and pattern, these elements are expertly utilized in this exquisitely designed kitchen, where luxury meets modernity, creating a harmonious space that exudes sophistication. The focal point of the room is undoubtedly the magnificent brass vent hood, effortlessly drawing attention with its stunning metallic allure. Surrounding it, unstained wood cabinets exude warmth and elegance, their natural hues contrasting beautifully against the vivid colors of the marble tile backsplash. Adding a striking pop of color, the backsplash tile steals the show, showcasing bold geometric shapes that command the viewers’ attention, creating a vibrant and eye-catching visual display. This kitchen is a true masterpiece, seamlessly blending timeless design elements with contemporary flair.
Brass Art Deco bar stools are the perfect compliment to this space. In the image on the right you see the breakfast bar that was designed so that the kids could see the tv in the family room as they had breakfast. A glass railing with brass accents serves as visual reminder that there is a step down into the sunken family room.
In a luxury kitchen, no detail is too small to be overlooked, and this is particularly true when it comes to plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. These seemingly minor elements play a pivotal role in elevating the overall design aesthetic and functionality of the space. Careful selection of the unlacquered brass plumbing fixtures in this kitchen lends a touch of elegance and sophistication. Cabinet hardware, on the other hand, adds personality and character to the kitchen. The oversized brass pulls feel substantial in your hand when opening cabinets, and the natural rock crystal knobs on the tall cabinets bring a sense of elegance and refinement to the space. The synergy between plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware creates a harmonious atmosphere, underscoring the meticulous attention to detail and the opulence of the luxury kitchen design.
